Bukayo Saka pulls OUT of England squad just hours after meeting up with team-mates with decision made on replacement

The Arsenal player showed up for England duty at St. George’s Park early today, so he didn’t get to see his team’s 1-0 triumph over Manchester City.

After consulting with doctors, Saka decided to return to Arsenal and finish his recovery rather than travel with the Three Lions.

England released a statement saying, “Bukayo Saka will not play in England’s fixtures against Australia and Italy,” confirming their decision.

The forward joined the rest of the Three Lions’ squad at St. George’s Park on Monday.

“Having missed Arsenal’s Premier League win against Manchester City on Sunday through ιnjury, Saka was assessed by the England medical team and it was decided the player would continue his rehabilitation at his club.”Following the news of Saka’s hamstring ιnjury against Lens last week, the statement confirmed that manager Gareth Southgate would NOT be calling up a substitute.

On Friday night, England will play host to Australia in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium.

The following Tuesday, they will host Italy in a Euro 2024 qualifying match at the national stadium.

The English national team has a great chance of making it to the World Cup finals in Germany next summer.With 13 points after five games, Southgate’s squad is six points ahead of Italy in the standings.

The two best teams in the group will advance to the Euro 2024 tournament.

Even without Saka, England still has plenty of capable alternatives in the attacking third.

The squad includes captain Harry Kane, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden of Manchester City, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, and rising prospects James Maddison and Ollie Watkins.

Jarrod Bowen, who recently signed a long-term contract with West Ham, has been chosen for the team.
