Day 1, Day 2 and straight to training with Ronaldo’s team
Eden Hazard once settled the Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo GOAT debate in private chat
Hazard, 32, a former star for Chelsea and Real Madrid, retired on Tuesday morning with an emotional message citing years of ιnjury problems as the reason for his decision.
By writing, “You must listen to yourself and sаy stop at the right time,” Hazard confirmed his choice.
Some, including his brother Thorgan, ranked Hazard third in the world in terms of talent behind Messi and Ronaldo.
Hazard was transferred to Real Madrid for £89 million after scoring 110 goals in 352 games for Chelsea.
However, he was a dismal failure at the Bernabeu, making only 76 appearances over four seasons due to recurring ailments.
Hazard ended the 2019 discussion between Messi and Ronaldo as the best player in the world during a conversation with former Chelsea colleague John Obi Mikel.
Mikel remarked to The Athletic, “I’ve always said that one of the players who was the most gifted, had everything – pace, power, skill, technique, is Eden Hazard.
Behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he finished in third place. But that depended entirely on his own volition. He actually was that competent.
In a few instances, he even declared as much: “If I want to be that excellent, I can be as good. Not on the same level as Messi, who is simply from another planet, but I believe I can compete with, if not surpass, Ronaldo.
These are his actual statements, but he really isn’t that into the sport. He’s the worst trainer I’ve ever worked with, and he doesn’t even train well.
Ahead of his exit from Real Madrid at the end of the 2022/23 season, Belgian international Toni Kroos recently reiterated Mikel’s caution about Hazard’s devotion.”We had another player who came for a lot of money and basically let his career Ԁie,” Kroos added.
It was a sizable sum, and I doubt anyone would defend the decision to transfer it. And yet, let’s look on the bright side.
Kroos said that despite Hazard’s injuries, he did not feel sorry for him.
“Of course it’s a difficult situation, but pity is out of place in football,” he said.
I don’t think Eden’s life is all that horrible. There are others with much worse lives than him who deserve sympathy. It’s not about the cash, and I have no sympathy for anyone in the football industry.
