After Ryan Gravenberch declined a call-up to the Netherlands Under-21 team last month, Ronald Koeman has admitted to harboring resentment toward him

Ronald Koeman, manager of the Dutch national team, has said he is still angry at Ryan Gravenberch after turning down a call from him last month.

The 21-year-old midfielder moved for Liverpool at the close of the summer transfer window in a £35m deal, but he declined to join the Dutch Under-21 squad in September so that he could concentrate on adjusting to life in England.

Koeman was upset by Gravenberch’s choice at the time, and he hasn’t softened much in his stance in the weeks since.

Koeman has stated that his fury at last month’s snub affected his decision to leave Gravenberch off the national team this week. Koeman also made reference to the emerging star’s lack of playing time since arriving on Merseyside.

The Dutch junior national team and the Dutch national squad “do have a certain opinion about canceling,” Koeman added.

However, I doubt he has had many opportunities to play. There was a contest last Thursday.

Koeman has told Gravenberch that if he performs well for Liverpool, he may be able to earn his way back into the squad.

Still, I believe he has tremendous talent. He’ll always be a player for the Dutch national team if he continues to grow and play at Liverpool, Koeman said.

Gravenberch has been used in the Premier League as a substitute four times this season, but he has yet to start a game at the highest level.

Last week, he scored his first goal for the Reds in the Europa League, and the team went on to beаt Union Saint Gilloise 2-0. This may indicate that he is now settling in to life in England.

The Netherlands, though, will have to do without him in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifying matches against France and Greece.

Koeman’s team has more work to do before they can rest easy knowing they’ll be competing in Germany next year.

They’ve played one fewer game than France and are presently second in Group B.
