Luke Shaw says that a Nigerian star not Awoniyi or Osimhen is one of the toughest forwards he has faced

According to Soccernet.ng, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has said that Nigerian star Victor Moses is one of the toughest players he has faced in his career.

The Nigerian striker impressed Chelsea enough during his two years at Wigan Athletic to earn a transfer to Stamford Bridge in 2012.

Shaw reflected on his time playing against Moses at Southampton, when he thought the Nigerian winger to be a formidable opponent. Shaw has played alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi since joining Manchester United in 2014.

According to Talk Sports’s retelling of a 2020 interview with the United Website, Shaw lauded Moses for his speed and strength on the ball, recalling their battles when Shaw was just 17 and the two were playing for Southampton.

“People always think I’m joking, but one of my hardest games ever was against Moses when I was coming in as a 17-year-old at Southampton,” Shaw said. Perhaps it was because I was a child. His speed, directness, and strength all presented difficulties for me.

Shaw noted that he had played against the likes of Gareth Bale, Lionel Messi, and Eden Hazard, but that he will always remember Moses as a very challenging opponent.

Moses has played on loan for Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham United, Fenerbahçe, and Inter Milan since leaving Chelsea, and he is now a permanent member of Spartak Moscow in the Russian League.
