Ja Morant’s summer has been far from tranquil as news breaks that a close friend of his, Davonte Pack, has an arrest warrant out for his involvement in an altercation in 2022. The dispute occurred at the estate of the Memphis Grizzlies star and involved a young basketball player.
The Shelby County district attorney’s office issued a statement regarding the situation involving Pack, who is famously referred to as “my brother” by All-Star player Kevin Durant. The charges against Pack and the young athlete stem from an alleged incident in July 2022 when they are accused of physically assaulting a teenager. Pack is now facing charges of simple assault.
Online records reveal that the arrest warrant for Pack, aged 24, was secured on Monday. On the same day, legal representatives for Ja Morant argued in a civil court that Morant should be dismissed from the teenager’s lawsuit. The argument presented was that the youngster had thrown a basketball at Morant, hitting Morant in the jaw, and Pack’s actions were in self-defense.
At the time of the initial complaint, the accuser was a 17-year-old teenager. Both Morant and Pack faced accusations of assault, reckless endangerment, inflicting emotional distress, and abuse or neglect. The complainant, who is now eighteen years old and identified as Joshua Holloway, was named in an amended complaint.
Morant later filed a countersuit in April, alleging assault, battery, and defamation against Joshua Holloway.
In April, Holloway, who has committed to playing college basketball at Samford, shared his perspective in an interview with Memphis’ WREG about the countersuits. He expressed resilience in the face of challenges, stating, “I’m not afraid of anything. God is trustworthy and has my back. Whatever happens, I’m still going to accomplish my goal.”
