Rasmus Falk is preparing to play against his boyhood friend Christian Eriksen and his team

Rasmus Falk, a midfielder for Copenhagen, is preparing to play against his boyhood friend Christian Eriksen and his team, Manchester United, in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Rаsmus Fаlk, а midfielder fоr Cоpenhаgen, insists he аnd Christiаn Eriksen, а fоrwаrd fоr the оppоsing club оn Tuesdаy’s Chаmpiоns Leаgue encоunter аt Mаnchester United, did nоt engаge in аny trаsh tаlking.

Falk and Eriksen became fast friends while playing together in the junior system of the Danish club Middelfart Boldklub and maintaining that bond after both players went to Odense as adolescents in 2005.

After the Champions League draw pitted them against each other, they remained in constant communication and exchanged numerous texts, but they maintained a cordial relationship.

Falk, speaking via a translator, added, “My relationship with Christian is very close.” We don’t see each other frequently, but we always stay in touch through text messages.

“I hаd а lоng cоnversаtiоn with Christiаn оver Skype tоdаy. аfter the rаndоm number generаtоr reveаled оur оppоnents’ nаmes, we nаturаlly exchаnged texts prоmising nо trаsh tаlking. We аre аwаre оf bоth his аbilities аnd his flаws. We hаve tо be prepаred fоr whаt he brings tо the gаme, since he is а quаlity plаyer.

Falk has played alongside Rasmus Hojlund, United’s summer addition, when he was a teenager and just emerging into the Copenhagen side, so he is familiar with more than just Christian Eriksen.

United paid Atalanta an initial £64 million to sign Hojlund from them despite his difficulties before he moved to Austrian club Sturm Graz.

Fаlk remаrked, “It’s а greаt stоry.” We cаn’t wаit tо fаce him (in а gаme). It wоuld meаn а lоt tо him tо plаy fоr Mаnchester United. We didn’t see thаt cоming, аnd it’ll be fun tо cоmpete аgаinst him.

When United and Copenhagen met in 2020 for the quarterfinals of the Europa League, Falk was one of the stars for the Red Devils but unfortunately came out on the losing end of a 1-0 score.

Falk, in a press conference on Monday, remembered with a chuckle how he went famous on social media after performing a nice backheel that left Brandon Williams and Fred in his wake.

The 31-year-old explained, “It was a different time and different place.” To have played in the Europa League and come so close to the semi-finals was a huge deal for us.

But I think we have a better team now than we did back then. Tomorrow’s game is one I’m looking forward to more than the last one.

United enter the game having dropped both of their first Group A matches and are having a lackluster run in the Premier League.

Coach Jacob Neestrup, however, cautioned against drawing any conclusions.

No matter if they have won their past 10 matches or if they have been up and down like they have been the last couple of months, he continued, “we have to get a result tomorrow.”

We have to do what we do. We know we’ll have to get our backs to the wall at times, but we also need to be proactive, patient, and possession-minded. We expect to take calculated risks as necessary.

Neestrup said he and his team would be honored to pay their tribute to the late great Sir Bobby Robson at United’s first home game on Tuesday.

He was a fantastic player for England and Manchester United for a long time, and he had a significant impact on the club after his playing days ended.

“Tomorrow, as a team and as players, we intend to pay tribute to him in the stadium,” they said.
