MANCHESTER UNITED overcame Copenhagen in spectacular fashion on a memorable night at Old Trafford.
Deep into the second half, Harry Maguire leaped high before nodding the Red Devils ahead.
Andre Onana saved a stoppage-time penalty to give the Red Devils all three points.
Manchester United earned their first Champions League victory of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Copenhagen at Old Trafford.
And it was two of United’s most chastised players who secured the victory.
It all started with Harry Maguire, who beat Kamil Grabara with a brilliant header after 72 minutes after a magnificent cross down the right by team captain Bruno Fernandes.
However, the Red Devils came dangerously close to another defeat when Scott McTominay clumsily fouled Mohamed Elyounoussi inside the area in the fourth and final minute of stoppage time.
But it was Andre Onana’s time to silence his detractors, as he bailed out the Manchester giants by stopping Jordan Larsson’s spot-kick with a superb save with his right arm.
That’s all from SunSport; have a great night!
Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, lauded Andre Onana and Christian Eriksen.
It’s a spectacular night, especially in the last seconds. Andre’s save is amazing; we’ve gradually regained our form this season, and it’s a step higher.
We were out of sync with setbacks a few weeks ago, but now we’re back on track, and the victory was well-deserved.
Because Copenhagen is well-organized, you must break them and discover the opportune moments.
Christian Eriksen is calm and makes the correct passes. I am confident that once we have a consistent back four, we will have a solid basis to work from.
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana rescued his team’s blushes in the waning seconds of the game with a sensational penalty save.
Onana, on the other hand, says he was merely “doing his job” against Copenhagen.
“You know, I was just doing my job.”
I’m thrilled with the win; we played well, and we need to keep it up.”
Manchester United’s Harry Maguire delivered an outstanding effort and scored the game-winning goal.
Maguire, on the other hand, praised Andre Onana’s late penalty save and dedicated the victory to Sir Bobby Charlton.
“Incredible. The first half was terrible, but the second half was much better. It was a crucial win, and this man [Andre Onana] came up and made a huge stop.
It was one of those nights when everything just fell into place. A victory in memory of Sir Bobby.
It’s been a long, difficult week. We’ll miss him, and we’re really delighted to have won for him.”
