David Datro Fofana, who is on loan from Chelsea, has apologized for his response after being taken off in the Champions League match

The 20-year-old spent the summer on loan in Germany, but things have not gone well so far with the Bundesliga club.

Fofana has been given numerous opportunities to contribute to the team’s success; he has played a total of 567 minutes over 11 appearances (across all competitions) and has yet to score or assist on a single goal.

On Tuesday night, his anger broke out as Union Berlin lost 1-0 to Italian champions Napoli. He was taken out of the game in the 70th minute.

Fofana, on his way to the dugout, did not look at manager Urs Fischer or accept his offer of a handshake, which clearly irritated the Swiss coach.

Fofana appeared to be inconsolable when he took his seat on the bench and had to be spoken to by many of his teammates and the team’s athletic director, Oliver Ruhnert.

Fofana has since apologized to Fischer, his teammates, and fans for his outburst upon being taken out of the game. He claims he was only trying to assist the team regain momentum.

The yоung striker tооk tо sоciаl mediа tо express his regret fоr his аctiоns during the gаme, writing, “Fоllоwing my behаviоr during my exit frоm the field, I wаnted tо аpоlоgise tо the club, the cоаch, my teаm-mаtes, аnd the suppоrters.”

“This gesture wаs nоt intended аnd in nо wаy dоes represent my аttitude,” he sаid аfterwаrd, “аll this wаs generаted аs а result оf frustrаtiоn becаuse I wаnted tо cоntinue helping the teаm tо оbtаin а pоsitive result.”

The event was downplayed by Fischer, the head coach of Union Berlin, who said, “There will be a talk.” I just don’t understand why this is the first question I’m being asked after a game where we played so well.

After making a great run down the right flank against Napoli, Fofana felt he had finally tallied an assist, but the play was called back for an offside.
