Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener loss to the Denver Nuggets, during which Anthony Davis didn’t score in the second half, sports analyst Colin Cowherd didn’t hold back on his assessment of the star player.
In his critique, he playfully compared Davis to a milkshake machine, specifically one at McDonald’s. The analogy stemmed from the reputation of these machines for occasionally malfunctioning while performing well on other occasions.
Addressing Anthony Davis’s second-half scoring drought, Cowherd quipped, “Typically, NBA superstars are not like the milkshake machine at McDonald’s. When it works, it’s amazing, but that’s about 50% of the time.”
Cowherd elaborated on his point, noting that Davis consistently excels on the defensive end, but his offensive output can be quite inconsistent. He highlighted the contrast between games where Davis might score 40 points and others where he only manages 13 for the Lakers.
With just one game into his 12th season, Cowherd suggested that the realization has set in regarding the type of player Davis is, and he expressed a lighthearted acceptance of it.
