Giannis Antetokounmpo: Embracing Team Potential for Greatness with a Cautious Approach

Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks understands how potent his current team can be, especially after adding seven-time All-Star Damian Lillard to the mix. However, the two-time MVP warns that success in Milwaukee will not come quickly.

“We’re a very talented team, but I know this team’s potential, and I want to see it realized.” And it won’t be quick,” Antetokounmpo remarked. “It could take 10 games, 20 games, 40 games, or 82 games.” But I feel that with the mindset that we have, we are here to get better and to assist one another to be good. “I believe it will happen.”

New players and a new coach

Aside from acquiring Lillard and bringing in new players such as Cam Payne and Malik Beasley, the Bucks also replaced longtime head coach Mike Budenholzer with first-time NBA head coach Adrian Griffin. The club is also adjusting to new concepts that Griffin is implementing this season, according to veteran wingman Khris Middleton.

“I mean, I think a lot of it right now is because of the new coach.” So you have a new coach and a new system, and then you add a guy like Dame to your team. “That’s a player we’ve never played with, or at least not with me,” Middleton said.

“So integrating him into the offense and the team will be an adjustment period because, you know, he’s one of the best scorers in the game.” As I already stated, I’ve never played with a player like that from the point guard position, so it will take some time to adjust. But I believe we’re working things out. Communication is the most important aspect of it all; therefore, I believe we’re doing well.”

Dame has come to win.

“The “Greek Freak” is content with where the team stands as Giannis and the Bucks adjust to accommodate Lillard. He’s gotten to know #0 after spending several weeks with him and is convinced that the team will be successful with him in the future.

“It might take some time, but at the end of the day, like, I know what Dame is bringing to the table, and he’s here to win,” Antetokounmpo was quoted as saying. “He’s here to have a good time. He’s here to guide us, and I know what the coach has to offer. He’s been incredible thus far. He lets us be ourselves; he lets us play hard; he believes in us; he trusts us. And so far, so good. As if both are bringing and giving their all to the team. But it will take some time.”
