‘Not captain material’

After Man United’s embarrassing derby loss, several fans have called for Erik ten Hag to remove Bruno Fernandes as team captain.

Roy Keane believes that Manchester United should remove Bruno Fernandes as captain after his play in the team’s 3-0 loss against Manchester City.

This season, the midfielder will wear the captain’s armband in place of Harry Maguire, who was demoted from captain by coach Erik ten Hag.

The Portugal superstar was unable to rally his team to victory against their fierce rivals, as Erling Haaland scored twice and Phil Foden added another to help Manchester City to a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.Pundits like Keane, Gary Neville, and Micah Richards have all criticized Fernandes’ body language and handling of team-mates, casting doubt on his leadership abilities.

Keane, a veteran in United’s organization, thinks that the 29-year-old should no longer wear the captain’s armband.”The first thing I would do, I have to tell you having watched him again, I would definitely take the captaincy off him, 100 per cent,” he told reporters on Sky Sports.

I understand that this is a major choice, and since they recently appointed Maguire as captain. Fernandes is not fit to be a captain. There’s no question in my mind that he’s a talented player. But what I witnessed with him today is something we’ve talked about in the past. His incessant complaining, groaning, and waving of the arms around. This is completely unacceptable.

“I’d take it away from him. What exactly do you alter? The manager has the authority to do it, so I would start there. He’s all I don’t want in a captain and more.On Wednesday, United will play Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.
