The Milwaukee Bucks must improve their game-ending skills. Giannis Antetokounmpo had this to say after the Milwaukee Bucks nearly blew a big lead before edging the Miami Heat 122-114 on Monday night at the Fiserv Forum.
The Bucks appeared to be on their way to an easy victory when they grabbed a 97-73 lead with only one quarter remaining. Milwaukee led by 25 points with 10:30 remaining before the Heat went on a big run and pulled within striking distance late in the game.
The endgame performance is subpar.
“Once you get up 20, you have to put them away.” You must put them away. That was not possible tonight. “Hopefully, we can take something away from this,” Antetokounmpo added.
Surprisingly, the Heat rallied despite having all of their starters on the bench.
“Our boys were turning the tide. When you’re on the other side, it might be frustrating. They simply want you to leave. Our guys were working hard and accomplishing a lot of good. “Part of me wanted to see if they could just keep getting it over the top,” Miami coach Erik Spoelstra explained.
Giannis comes to the rescue
With 1:22 remaining, Miami reduced the game to 109-115, but Giannis put the game away with a three-point play. The clutch baskets were part of Giannis’ 33-point night, which helped the Bucks bounce back from a 110-127 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.
The Bucks, according to Giannis, should have that killer instinct, especially when facing a team like Miami, which is known for its never-say-die mindset.
“When you have a chance to put them away, you’ve got to put them away — because they’re going to keep coming,” Antetokounmpo was quoted as saying.
