Replacing Robert Sanchez, Chelsea is thinking about getting Everton’s Jordan Pickford in January

The 29-year-old has been Everton’s first-choice custodian since moving there from Sunderland in the summer of 2017. He played 249 times for the Merseysiders.

Pickford has helped Everton avoid going down to the Championship for the past two seasons. In 37 league games last season, the former Black Cat kept eight clean sheets.

The former Preston North End loanee has also solidified his spot as Gareth Southgate’s first choice for England. Since his start in December 2015, he has earned 56 caps for his country.

According to 90min, Chelsea has added Pickford to their list of custodian choices before the transfer window opens in January. The Blues are always trying to improve their team.

It is known that Everton will not be selling their first-choice custodian in January. Any possible buyer would have to make a very high offer for the player to leave Goodison Park.

As per the story, the West Londoners are not planning to sign a new custodian any time soon, but they are looking all over the world for long-term options in that position.

It is thought that scouts from Chelsea were at San Mames Barria over the weekend to watch the growth of keepers Unai Simon from Athletic Bilbao and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

Chelsea has been interested in Mamardashvili, a player from Georgia, for a while now. The 23-year-old Valencia player could become a regular for the Blues’ first team for many years to come.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team is also interested in Arsenal goalie Aaron Ramsdale. They are keeping a close eye on the Englishman’s situation since David Raya seems to have taken over as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper this season.

Pochettino’s first choice custodian for the Blues right now is Robert Sanchez. Dorde Petrovic, who joined from MLS team New England Revolution in the summer, is Sanchez’s backup.

The West Londoners have loaned Kepa Arrizabalaga to Real Madrid for the rest of the season. It’s still not clear if the former Bilbao custodian will stay at Stamford Bridge.

Pickford and his Everton teammates will be looking to keep up their good form when they host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday. They have already kept clean sheets in their last two wins over West Ham United and Burnley.
