The Milwaukee Bucks have unveiled their new jersey, which is part of the 2023-24 NIKE NBA City Edition line and will be worn only this season.
For the second year in a row, the Bucks are using the uniform to emphasize the team’s role as a community gathering place where all Wisconsin citizens and Bucks supporters worldwide may come together. The franchise was inspired for this season’s design by photographs of crowds gathered in Deer District under the shadow of Fiserv Forum during the historic 2021 NBA Championship run, which became a global representation of Milwaukee’s diversity and unrivaled enthusiasm of Bucks supporters.
“We do not take the bond we have developed with our fans for granted, and we take great pride in our role in bringing our communities together,” said Bucks Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Dustin Godsey. “The indelible images of our fans packed in Deer District during the 2021 playoffs educated the world on something we have long known – we have the best fans in the NBA, and this uniform pays homage to them.”
The Great Lakes Blue color scheme was used in both the 2020-21 and 2022-23 City Edition outfits. Great Lakes Blue was added to the Bucks’ color palette in 2015 to represent Milwaukee’s interconnectedness generated by Lake Michigan and the three rivers that run through the city.
This season, the Great Lakes Blue jersey is accented with a lighter blue that is incorporated into the abstract speckle design on the base of the garment. The 2021 NBA Finals Game 6 crowds in Deer District served as the inspiration for the speckle design, which is an abstract representation of the fans who gather all over the world to cheer on the Bucks throughout the year.
The front of the uniform has a distinctively curved banner inspired by the architecture of Fiserv Forum. To complete the look, the front banner extends down one side of the uniform and onto the shorts. The bright green accent color on the jersey trim and shorts was inspired by the explosive environment created by Bucks supporters at Fiserv Forum each game.
The Bucks will debut the City Edition uniforms against the New York Knicks in an In-Season Tournament clash tomorrow, Nov. 3. The jersey will also be worn at seven home games this season, including the other In-Season Tournament game on Nov. 24 at Fiserv Forum and five home games against 2021 playoff opponents. Beginning in December, the outfits will be supplemented by the City Edition alternate court.
