Szoboszlai: ‘I felt lonely when I first arrived in Liverpool’

The Hungarian international joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig with a contract worth £60 million and immediately proved himself to be an important link in coach Jurgen Klopp’s tactical scheme.

The versatile midfielder scored once and provided two assists and quickly filled the void left by the departures of Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner and Fabinho in the summer.

However, things did not go smoothly for the 23-year-old player. He revealed that he had difficulties off the field at times when adapting to new life in England.

Szoboszlai said: “It would be a lie to say that sometimes I don’t feel lonely. There are days when I just sit on the chair and wonder what to do. Then I turn on the movie and try to sleep, hoping Hope tomorrow will be better.”

He added: “Personally I want to play every match, even if I’m a bit tired. Anything, whether it’s the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League, Premier League or the national team.

I’m in good shape as I’m often needed by the team.”
