Warriors receive concerning Klay Thompson injury update ahead of Cavs

The Golden State Warriors are fresh off an exhilarating victory in the 2023-24 season, highlighted by Stephen Curry’s game-winning shot, a play that teetered on the edge as Draymond Green’s potential offensive interference violation was deemed within the rules.

Their upcoming game is set for Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but there’s a possibility they’ll be facing it with a depleted roster. Klay Thompson, a star for the Warriors, is currently listed as questionable on the injury report due to adductor tightness, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Klay Thompson has made a remarkable return for the Warriors after enduring two consecutive seasons marred by various injuries. While he had appeared on the Warriors’ injury report in recent days, he has yet to miss a game this season.

Over the first five games of the season, Thompson was logging an average of 32.0 minutes per game, contributing 16.8 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 blocked shots. He displayed impressive shooting percentages, connecting on 47.8 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from beyond the arc, and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line.

As a five-time All-Star, Thompson has played a pivotal role in securing four championships for the Warriors and has been one half of the team’s dynamic backcourt alongside Stephen Curry. Thompson was originally drafted by the Warriors as the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Currently in the final year of his contract with the Warriors, Thompson holds the option to negotiate an extension during the regular season. If the two parties fail to reach an agreement, he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
