Rasmus Hojlund blames a contentious choice for Manchester United’s loss to Copenhagen

Rasmus Hojlund thinks that the outcome of Manchester United’s match versus FC Copenhagen was altered by the referee’s decision to substitute Marcus Rashford.

In their Champions League match against Copenhagen on Wednesday night, United needed three points, and they got off to the ideal start due to a brace from Hojlund, who put them ahead twice in the first thirty minutes.

However, tragedy struck just before the break as Rashford was dismissed for a clumsy challenge following a VAR review.

Cоpenhagen leveled the scоre befоre halftime after they smelled blооd. Even if giving up the lead made it inevitable that it wоuld be difficult, United was at ease when play restarted.

Despite having an extra man, the hosts didn’t exert much pressure in the first half of the second half, and United took the lead again in the 68th minute when Bruno Fernandes’ penalty was expertly executed.

The Parken Stadium crowd, which included United supporters from around the country, thought they had won, but Copenhagen struck twice in a span of ten minutes, sending the Reds down 4-3.

Hojlund said to TNT Sports following the game, “I think we started quite well, to be honest. Up until the red card, which obviously altered the play, we had the upper hand in the game.

“I believe we performed fairly well if you only consider the [opening] 20 minutes and don’t look at the outcome.

“I believe that [after the red card], we kind of lost our cool. Since we were down one player in this game, it naturally gave them confidence, and I know how the supporters can support the team in this situation.

It greatly boosted them. We started the second half really well; we were calm when handling the ball, we switched the game a lot, we scored a penalty, and we took the lead once more.

“So it’s unfortunate we’re here, with the zero points from the game again.”
