The English footballers who adore their pets almost as much as the game they play

The Three Lions of England have done the unthinkable at the Euro 2020 Championships by advancing to the championship game.

On Sunday’s decisive encounter against Italy, we won’t be the only ones on the edge of our seats; our furry family members will be there to show their support, too.

Ten of England’s 26 players, including manager Gareth Southgate and his two dogs (a labrador and a cockapoo), are dog owners.

Here are ten members of the Three Lions who are also dog owners.

The Everton goalie has been outstanding throughout the tournament, allowing only one goal.

And that’s not all: in 2017, at a price of £30 million, he also became the most expensive English goalie ever.

In 2016, the 27-year-old posted an Instagram snap of his new Cavapoo puppy.

In the words of Aaron Ramsdale

The 24-year-old keeper from Sheffield United replaced the injured Dean Henderson of Manchester United.

To announce his replacement as the goalkeeper, he wrote on Instagram, “While I’m delighted to be joining back up with England, my immediate thoughts are with Deano as I know how much it meant to him to be involved.”

At the 2017 Christmas beach trip, Aaron was accompanied by what appears to be a family pet, the Ramsdales.

A. Chilwell, Ben

Chilwell has not yet played a single minute for England at the Euros.

Chilwell and Masоn Mоunt isоlated themselves after repоrts that Chilwell had clоse cоntact with Chelsea teammate Billy Gilmоur at Wembley, and Gilmоur later tested pоsitive fоr Cоvid-19. Chilwell missed the last grоup stage games as a result.

Conor Coady, Ben Chilwell, Sam Johnstone, and Aaron Ramsdale aren’t starting, but they’re integral to the team’s success because “the spirit of this group is phenomenal,” as manager Gareth Southgate put it. The work must be done by whoever shows up.

Ben shares his home with a doberman and a tiny terrier mix.

Harriet Anne “Harry” Maguire

The 28-year-old enjoys spending time with his poodle cross puppy and kids Lillie and Piper watching Peppa Pig when he is not on the field.

Mings, Tyrone

Mings, a defender for Aston Villa, has helped England get off to a strong start in this tournament.

The giant defender’s Instagram is filled with photos of his rottweiler, Pablo.

Talking to AFC Bournemouth on Youtube, he said: “I had a rottweiler growing up so they’re the dogs we’re most familiar with. Like other dogs, they have a protective and a loving side. That explains [why you got a rottweiler].

The 23-year-old Brighton native has been left off the matchday squad more than once and is yet to make his tournament debut.

Instead, Southgate stated, “I’m spending more energy worrying about the three I have to leave out of the 26.

None of the players should be left out because they are all competent.

None of it is because I don’t think they’re up to the level, since they are all giving it their all in training.

Ben’s personal Instagram account features a throwback photo of him and a cute spaniel.

Forward Harry Kane

Harry Kane, a family man who also happens to be the captain of the England team, has appeared in every game so far.

The Tottenham Hotspur player is widely considered one of the top attackers in the world. He has scored 37 goals for England, including four in this Euros.

Labradors Brady and Wilson are his three children’s furry protectors and even helped to announce his wife’s pregnancy.

Rashford, Marcus

The 23-year-old Manchester United player can be seen hugging his Cane Corso when he’s not on the field or pressuring the government to reverse its stance on child food poverty.

Raheem Sterling’s dog, The Saint, is a guard dog for hire from the firm Chaperone K9.

Three of England’s four goals in this competition have been scored by Raheem Sterling.

The Manchester City star, who is 26 years old and has a rottweiler named Okan, reportedly spent £15,000 on the canine’s services.

He frequently posts photos of himself walking with the striker, who has been an outspoken advocate for ending racism in the sport of football.

Phillips, Kalvin

Kalvin Phillips, a midfielder for Leeds United, and his partner share their home with two poodle crosses.

He’s played in every game thus far and has a tournament-best 88% passing accuracy.
