Liverpool vs Brentford preview: A win for the title race

After losing to Toulouse, Liverpool will return to Anfield to welcome Brentford in round 12 of the 2023/24 Premier League. Commentary on Liverpool vs Brentford is heavily in favor of the home team, and they need to win to end the recent series of disappointments.

Klopp’s army is turning Anfield into a fortress. Accordingly, at home, Liverpool has won all 8 matches at Anfield in all competitions since the beginning of the season. Liverpool lost in France in midweek. However, it should be emphasized that that loss was due to coach Klopp keeping many pillars on the bench to recover for the reception of Brentford with the goal of winning to compete for the Premier League championship this season.

On the other side of the front line, Brentford played poorly in September and early October, they had a series of 6 consecutive matches without winning in all competitions, including 4 defeats and 2 draws. Poor results caused the London team to fall to the second half of the Premier League rankings, and were eliminated from the English League Cup.

However, in the last 2 matches in October, and the first match in November, Brentford won. After defeating Burnley and Chelsea with a final score of 5-0, Brentford allowed Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen to score at home, but the Gtech home team scored 3 goals to win 3-2. Dinos Mavropanos scored an own goal, in addition to two goals from Neal Maupay and Nathan Collins, helping the home team win all 3 points.

By winning 9 points in the last 3 matches, Brentford has risen to 9th place on the rankings, 4 points behind Newcastle’s 7th place. Thus, the hope of winning tickets to the European Cup next season has been rekindled for Thomas Frank and his team. If they defeat Liverpool at Anfield, the away team will have a series of 4 consecutive victories in the top flight of English football for the first time since 1939.

The Bees always have difficulty against Liverpool, the last time they kept a clean sheet against the Red Brigade was in 1936. The Kop have won 3-0 and 1-0 at Anfield since Brentford was promoted in 2021, but The London team also had a victory with a score of 3-1 at Gtech’s home field in January this year. In the last 4 clashes, Liverpool won 2, lost 1 and drew 1.
