Possible rift in Lionel Messi’s team! After his incredible hat trick performance for Gremio, Luis Suarez is contemplating making a U-turn and transferring to Inter Miami.
Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi’s reunion at Inter Miami this summer is in jeopardy if the Uruguayan decides to instead remain with Gremio.
According to a fresh report by journalist Jeremias Wernek, Gremio striker Suarez is debating whether or not to return for a second season in Brazil. Fans reportedly chanted for the former Barcelona and Liverpool star to stay at the club after his hat trick helped them to a 4-3 victory over Botafogo on Saturday.
Inter Miami manager Tata Martino has previously stated his intention to include the striker in his roster for the upcoming season. There have been rumors that Suarez’s move to Miami this winter has already been agreed upon by both the club and Gremio, but the Uruguayan’s final decision has yet to be made.Suarez and Messi appeared in 258 games for Barcelona together. During that time, they contributed to 99 total goals as a unit. It’s an incredible feat, and Inter Miami would love to break the record.Whether Suarez chooses to move to Major League Soccer (MLS) or remain with Gremio is still up in the air, but either way, his future will be the subject of speculation.
Former Barcelona and Ajax star Koeman: Verstappen is like Messi
Ronald Koeman has been at the top of his sport, played with the best, and coached the best of the best, so he has a firm grasp on what it takes to succeed. He has now compared Max Verstappen to Lionel Messi, the highest conceivable compliment.
Both Verstappen, who has won 33 of the 41 races since the beginning of 2022, and Messi, who has scored 726 club goals in 898 games, have experienced remarkable amounts of dominance against competitors throughout their careers.
Messi has won 42 trophies since his debut in 2004–05, and Verstappen just won his third consecutive F1 drivers’ title at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix.
Koeman said of Verstappen on Formule1.nl, “I see similarities [between Verstappen and Lionel Messi]. The determination to succeed at whatever cost. Being able to hold your own and come out on top when the score is still being determined. Max exhibits this in his actions, appearance, level of hostility, and resolve.
For instance, during a race he may need to stop for new tires. He doesn’t inquire; rather, he reports. He acknowledges his fault. That’s something I noticed in Messi, too, when I spent a year and a half with him at Barcelona.
Koeman captained a brilliant Dutch squad that won the UEFA European Championships and advanced to the World Cup on two separate occasions in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
In addition to being a fearsome defense, he was also a prolific scorer (238 goals in 685 games, which is as excellent a rate as many strikers attain). Over the course of his 17-year career, he helped his teams capture 18 championships.
It’s a rare quality, but Max has it in spades: he lives in the mоment. I had that myself as a sоccer player,” Kоeman added. The greater the stakes, the mоre thrilling the challenge, and the better I felt abоut it. It was merely fоr fun that I displayed it. Tо establish оne’s identity and merit.
There’s nothing that can throw Max off his game. He’s determined and assured, just like when 300,000 people from the Netherlands show up at the track in Zandvoort to see him. When it matters most, he performs like only the Messis, Ronaldos, and Verstappen can.
Verstappen is contracted to stay at Red Bull until 2028 after signing an agreement in 2021. However, he frequently discusses leaving the sport, in part because of changes to the schedule and format.
The 26-year-old also believes that winning consistently will not bring him as much satisfaction as other things in life.
Koeman remarked, “If I look at myself: I once stopped at Barcelona and then played two more seasons at Feyenoord. I wish now that I had stayed in Barcelona.
However, at that same time, I experienced a shift in mood and believed I was prepared for something new. Our case specifically involved a move back to the Netherlands. But now we’re back in Barcelona, and we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
What I mean is that yоu shоuld trust yоur instincts nо matter what. If Max lоses interest оr enthusiasm fоr his current endeavоr, he will need tо find sоmething else tо accоmplish. Hоwever, in my оpiniоn, yоu shоuld prоceed while yоu are capable оf dоing sо. There is оnly оne time tо stоp.
