Erik ten Hag will use Sir Jim Ratcliffe funding to target two new signings to Manchester United

The creator of Ineos, the richest man in Britain, has won control over sporting things and is about to buy a quarter of the club.

Ratcliffe is willing to support Ten Hag in the January window even though a new sporting director might not be appointed in time. He wants to start making investments right away, both on and off the field.

The first is a new full-back. Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw’s extended absences have severely limited his options in defense, so he wants to bolster at right-back.

Although Aaron Wan-Bissaka was formerly thought to be a possible weak link in Ten Hag’s system, he has significantly improved and emerged as one of the team’s best players during the last 12 months or so.

Though the Bundesliga contenders are highly unlikely to sell in the middle of the season, United has long been an admirer of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and has been connected to a number of right-backs in the past.

Ten Hag is also desperate for a new winger, preferably one who can play on either flank, since the Dutchman is dissatisfied with the production of his present wide-man lineup.

Alejandro Garnacho and Antony have yet to score or assist, and Marcus Rashford has only scored once for United in the Premier League, leaving Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay tied for the team lead in goals scored.

Jadon Sancho may be sold in January, with Saudi Arabian teams apparently showing interest. He was excluded from the team and has not apologized to his boss after openly contesting his non-selection against Arsenal.

Even though January is typically thought of as a challenging month for business, Ratcliffe is prepared to provide money if his acquisition agreement is approved on time.

Even though United has performed poorly this season—especially in Europe—they have won four of their past five league games and are only seven points off of first place in the Premier League.

Ten Hag believes his team can finish in the top four once all of their players return to full fitness, especially if they can add a few new players in January.
