Good news: Erik ten Hag is open to proposals for Antony and two more players from Manchester United

The winger, who became the most expensive signing of Ten Hag’s rule thus far, moved from Ajax to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £85 million.

He has, however, had a very tough start to the current season and has failed to score or provide an assist in his first 12 games across all competitions. He has also struggled to live up to that price tag.

Despite the 23-year-old’s difficulties, Ten Hag has supported him and kept playing him for a long time, but that may be about to change.

The Dutch coach is reportedly ready to hearing proposals for the Brazilian when the January transfer window opens, according to The Sun.

According to reports, Ten Hag is eager to “refresh his attacking options” and may try to trade for Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho, the latter of whom is allegedly drawing attention from Saudi Arabia.

Antony is unlikely to fetch a price even close to what United spent, having scored just eight goals in 55 games since arriving at Old Trafford, so they would probably have to bear a heavy financial loss.

Ten Hag said to reporters last week, in response to a question regarding Antony’s poor play this season, “[He] was out for a couple of weeks so that broke the rhythm.”

Despite having a strong preseason, he took a break, so he needs to get back on track. Work is difficult.

“That is also team, first,” he continued in a another interview. “The team is not playing well when we don’t bring him the balls, and I am also responsible for that.”However, there was undoubtedly a lot of noise, which caused his levels to plummet. He can perform better, but so can every other player.

“Antony is a fighter as well; he exudes confidence and bravery, and I am sure he will deliver the kind of performance that makes him the ideal player for us.”

Even though Ten Hag publicly supported Antony, Marcus Rashford was chosen on the right and Alejandro Garnacho on the left for United’s last two games against Copenhagen and Luton Town.
