Chelsea unintentionally gave away information about one of their 2023–24 season uniforms. Since they were still experiencing problems obtaining a new primary sponsor, their home uniform wasn’t released until July; therefore, they haven’t worn anything other than their basic blue jersey when playing in the United States.
Three victories and a draw from four games indicate that the tour of the USA is going well so far. Fans can still not purchase the home outfit, though. It won’t be available to most supporters until after the tough contest against Liverpool on August 13, which is the first game of the new season.
Less than two weeks remain before the Blues get a front-shirt sponsor. The third and fourth kits are still not available to the general public. Many have appreciated how the design of the pre-season tops being worn currently, which don’t have a sponsor, seems like it belongs in the 1990s.
NBA player Kevin Durrant seemed to wear a brand-new uniform—which hasn’t been made public yet—during a promotional photo shoot with the team. A significant portion of the pre-game preparation at Landover was done by the Phoenix Suns forward, the two-time NBA champion and 2014 Most Valuable Player.
Durant was born not far from Washington, D.C., the site of Chelsea’s final Premier League Summer Series matchup against Fulham. They had played Newcastle and Brighton before that. Chelsea’s social media showed him on the field following the players for the coin toss prior to kickoff.
An image of the American legend wearing a baseball jacket with what appears to be an away or third shirt underneath was posted on Instagram with the caption “KD.” Though there hasn’t been an official release yet, the design corresponds with months-old leaks of the away uniform.
