The NBA recently revealed its latest set of city edition jerseys, and the Golden State Warriors stood out with a distinctive design crafted by Fil-Am graffiti artist Allison Hueman. Hailing from Oakland, Hueman felt honored to be chosen to create this year’s women’s suffrage-themed edition, considering it one of the most significant projects in her career.
Featuring a bold and radical design, the jersey centers around a photorealistic yellow-gold rose—a symbol associated with the women’s suffrage movement. This vibrant motif stretches from just under the center logo to the bottom edge of the jersey, making it one of the most visually striking jerseys in NBA history.
In conjunction with the jersey launch, the Warriors, along with sponsor Rakuten, are making a generous donation of $25,000 to the Women’s Sports Foundation, showcasing their commitment to supporting women in sports.
Hueman took to social media to explain the thoughtful elements incorporated into the jersey, expressing that each aspect represents both the city and women’s empowerment. The flowers symbolize victory and allyship, with a hand-drawn rose emphasizing support for the women in the community.
The color scheme, featuring yellow gold as a nod to championship trophies, combines masculinity with feminine empowerment. The blocky typeface draws inspiration from Art Deco signs found in the Bay Area’s historic landmarks.
