Open to selling Casemiro in January to fund Manchester United rebuild, reports say Sir Jim Ratcliffe

The 31-year-old had a successful debut season at Old Trafford after being hired by manager Erik ten Hag last summer for an initial £60m from Real Madrid and signing a five-year contract.

In fact, Casemiro helped Man United win the EFL Cup and advance to the Champions League by scoring seven goals and providing seven assists in 53 games across all competitions.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Casemiro has not been at his best this season, drawing criticism for his defensive play in a tumultuous 2023-24 season across all competitions.

According to the same source, Ratcliffe would reportedly listen to offers for Casemiro in January in order to raise capital for a significant roster revamp.

It is expected that Man United would announce Ratcliffe’s arrival at Old Trafford before their upcoming Premier League match on the road against Everton on November 26.

Upon his arrival at Manchester United, the 71-year-old British billionaire is said to have made it clear to Ten Hag that money are available to upgrade the squad in the winter window.

Despite Ratcliffe’s desire to cut ties with Casemiro, the Brazilian is reportedly not trying to leave the club in January, as reported by Fichajes.

Not only may Casemiro leave Manchester United in the new year, but so too could Jadon Sancho, who has fallen out of favor with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is largely anticipated to seek greener pastures.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia and Serie A powerhouse Juventus are rumored to be interested in Sancho, making a loan move away from Borussia Dortmund more feasible at this point.

Long-term plans for Frenchmen Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are also up in the air since they have fallen out of favor at Old Trafford and are widely expected to leave the club in 2024.

While Martial has only started two Premier League games this season and will be a free agent next summer, Varane has been a healthy substitute in each of Man United’s past five matches in the league and is reportedly eyeing a move to the Saudi Pro League.

With the possibility of selling off numerous starters in the upcoming transfer window, Manchester United may increase their pursuit of several players, including Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio, Benfica’s Joao Neves, and Porto’s Mehdi Taremi.
