Scotland scores a late goal in Georgia, bringing Scott McTominay’s Euro goal tally to seven

During the 2-2 draw in the Euro 2024 qualifier in Tiblisi, Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay criticized the Georgian players, calling them a “disgrace” and accusing them of acting.

The Manchester United man equaled the record for most goals scored by a Scotland player in a qualifying campaign with seven goals in seven games. Steve Clarke’s team twice came from behind to get a point, but the opposition’s antics left him dissatisfied.

In the second half, as Scotland pressed for a goal, several Georgians fell to the ground; one of them was McTominay, who was involved when Giorgi Kochorashvili went down clutching his face without making contact.

According to McTominay, who spoke to Viaplay, the team’s behavior on the field this evening was a shame because it provoked both the referee and the players. It’s going in the wrong direction. Keeping our composure is challenging, but necessary.

While McTominay was unhappy with the outcome, he did take some positives into Sunday’s match against Norway at Hampden.

I think we can build on coming back twice,” he said, acknowledging that there were disappointed heads in the locker room.
