Former Manchester United star David de Gea is being courted by Inter Miami, according to David Beckham

United rejected down a new contract offer to De Gea in the summer, thus he is still a free agent.

Andre Onana, a goalkeeper who seemed more at ease with the ball, was a much-desired acquisition by Erik ten Hag, who paid £47 million for him. The acquisition has been met with mixed reviews thus far.

While Onana’s old club Inter Milan and the Saudi Pro League have both approached De Gea with offers since he left Old Trafford, De Gea has declined each one.

The 33-year-old isn’t convinced by Real Betis and Valencia, the only clubs interested in bringing the Spaniard back to La Liga. This is in part due to the fact that neither club can match the £350,000-a-week deal he had with United.

According to the Daily Star, Beckham is ‘quietly optimistic’ that he will persuade his fellow United legend to play in the Major League Soccer (MLS) across the pond.

Indeed, earlier this year he signed Lionel Messi, winner of the Ballon d’Or eight times, pulling off one of the greatest transfer coups in history.

De Gea would have the opportunity to reunite with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, two teammates he played with when playing for Spain, if he signed with Miami.

The Major League Soccer season is not scheduled to begin until February or March of 2024, so Beckham does have some time on his side even if he is unable to persuade the goalkeeper to sign immediately.
