Official: Stephen Curry speaks on Warriors’ struggle in the locker room

The return of Stephen Curry, following a two-game absence, failed to arrest the Golden State Warriors’ worrisome descent as they endured a heart-wrenching 130-123 overtime defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night.

Analyzing the recent setbacks, Curry emphasized the difficulties the team is confronting and the imperative to address them. With a string of six consecutive losses, the Warriors find themselves in a challenging phase, grappling with the absence of defensive stalwart Draymond Green and maneuvering through the intricacies of the season.

“During this losing streak, we’ve got a little rattled,” acknowledged Curry. “So, we gotta figure that piece out. Missing Draymond is tough. I was out for two games. Seems like a perfect storm of everything. So, we have to maintain confidence in ourselves and our ability to figure things out. But, it’s gonna take everybody.”

Despite Curry’s commendable 25-point performance in his comeback from a knee injury, the Warriors came up short against the Thunder, who demonstrated their youthful energy and athleticism.

“A losing streak like this, there’s urgency, for sure. Anytime you’re at this many in a row, it’s a problem that you’ve got to fix. And, you don’t want to develop a losing mentality at all at any stretch of the season. That’s a stink in the locker room that you don’t wanna have in there.”

The Warriors, formerly an NBA dynasty, are grappling with the reality of an aging core. While Curry continues to deliver MVP-level performances, his longtime teammate Klay Thompson is experiencing a decline, and the absence of Draymond Green adds to the challenges.

With the league catching up to their aging core, the Warriors are determined to break free from the losing streak that has overshadowed their positive start to the season. Curry remains steadfast in avoiding any lingering negativity in the locker room, emphasizing that the path to recovery demands a collective effort from the Warriors.
