Harry Maguire, a star player for Manchester United, played the entire ninety minutes, plus extra time, as North Macedonia held England to a 1-1 draw in their last UEFA EURO qualifying match.
Enis Bardhi gave North Macedonia the lead four minutes prior to halftime.
But at the hour, Harry Kane, a replacement, headed a header that struck Jani Atanasov, bringing the score back to even and guaranteeing that Gareth Southgate’s team would share the spoils.
Maguire was positioned directly beside Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace in a backline that also included Kyle Walker and Rico Lewis, the defensive partnership for Manchester City.
Maguire did not have to make a tackle, an interception, or a clearance in his time on the field. During the game, he had a nervous moment where he gave up the ball in his own half and then took out a rival player who was rushing and appeared to be through on goal.
Luckily, the referee decided not to award Maguire a penalty.
Only once was he dribbled past.

Maguire was frequently included in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI during the Red Devils’ games immediately before the international break, sometimes even starting ahead of Raphael Varane.
The Englishman will undoubtedly be hoping that his performances for the national team against North Macedonia and Malta would be sufficient to maintain his turn around at Old Trafford.
On November 26, United plays Everton at Goodison Park.
