Despite his hefty price tag of £100 million ($126 million), Chelsea may consider signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli to address their persistent striker issue.
The Blues’ current frontline is wasting chances, but their high-scoring matches against Tottenham and Manchester City this month have hidden their shortcomings. According to a recent article in the Telegraph, Mauricio Pochettino is looking to bolster his оffensive lineup and has Napoli star Osimhen at the top of his list of potential recruits.
With 26 league goals last season, the Nigerian international became the first African player to earn the Serie A golden boot, and he helped lead the Partenopei to their first Scudetto in 33 years. But this season, things have gone worse with Napoli because of the club’s perplexing choice to post a video to their TikTоk website. People believe that Osimhen’s lawyers are threatening to sue over that offense. The dispute has reportedly made the 24-year-old amenable to a transfer to Chelsea, according to The Telegraph.
After selling Kalidou Koulibaly to Saudi side Al-Hilal in the summer, the two teams were linked through their agreement for the player. Since the Senegalese is still very close to Osimhen, Koulibaly is believed to be an important cog in any Blues deal.
It seems quite improbable that Osimhen will move to Stamford Bridge during the forthcoming January transfer window. Chelsea would have to spend more than their record-breаking £106.8 million for Enzo Fernandez nine months ago to acquire the player, which Pochettino would not have the budget for this winter if Napoli valued him at £100 million. Osimhen is the guy the Argentine has identified as the key to the Blues’ scoring wоes, but he views the role of striker as a long-term investment.
