Despite admitting that “it hasn’t clicked for him this season,” Harry Maguire defended Marcus Rashford following his forgettable performance against Newcastle, stating that his Man United teammates “know what he’s about.”
When TNT Sports analyst Jermaine Jenas attacked Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire stepped in to defend Rashford.
Jenas thinks Rashford and a few other Manchester United players were trying to tell manager Erik ten Hag something during Saturday night’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United through their body language.
Although Rashford’s troubles this season have been obvious to everyone, Maguire claimed that the Manchester United staff knows what he brings to the table.
“Marcus had an unbelievable season last season,” Maguire reportedly told the Mirror. He hasn’t had any success this season. His effort is diligent. No one in that dressing room is in the dark about him.
This has been a challenging week with three away games in six days, the 30-year-old defender said in commenting on the team’s performance. When we started, it appeared as though this was our third away game in as many days.
Neither the tempo nor the intensity were present. We were much inferior to them. We improved as a team, but ultimately, we weren’t good enough.
Even though their week on the road ended in defeat, Newcastle were able to beаt Man United thanks to Anthony Gordon’s goal.
Next up for Manchester United are three consecutive home games, following a three-game road trip. Chelsea and Bournemouth will be visiting Old Trafford before a pivotal Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
Nevertheless, following the loss to Newcastle and the draw in Europe during midweek, Ten Hag must now determine how to best position his players for the remainder of the season. Some commentators have speculated that this may involve avoiding the players’ own ideas and behavior.
‘In my opinion, there were a couple of players in there tonight who wasn’t happy with the tactics that were given to them or their places on the pitch,’ Jenas said to TNT Sports after Newcastle’s loss.
There were a handful of players that were communicating with the manager through their body language, which can reveаl a lot.
“Look, I don’t want to be playing on this right hand side,” I thought to myself as I watched Marcus Rashford today, especially on that right hand side, with the way he tossed his arms around.
With Chelsea’s match against Brighton on Sunday afternoon, Manchester United will have four days to prepare for their Premier League home match against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
