The romantic tale of Sonya and Dell Curry commenced in 1985 at the University of Virginia Tech. Dell, a standout athlete excelling in basketball and baseball, and Sonya, a recent addition to the university’s volleyball team, swiftly fell in love. They married in 1988, with Dell already having spent two seasons in the NBA. Their first child, Stephen, was born in March of that year, followed by Seth two years later and Sydel four years after Seth.

 

Stephen Curry (born March 14, 1988): The eldest of the Curry siblings, Stephen was born in Akron, Ohio, to Sonya and former NBA player Dell Curry. The family later relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina. Stephen gained recognition as a Davidson standout and was drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA draft. Today, he stands as one of the game’s finest shooters, securing three NBA championships with the Warriors.

 

Seth Curry (born August 23, 1990): During their childhood, Seth and Stephen often accompanied their father, Dell, to his games with the Charlotte Hornets, even participating in warm-up hoop sessions with the team. Seth began his college journey at Liberty University before transferring to Duke in 2010. Going undrafted, he started his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies and has since played for various teams, including the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, and currently, the Brooklyn Nets.

Following in her mother Sonya’s footsteps, Sydel started her volleyball journey at the age of 5. As a high school player, she served as team captain, winning two Southern Division IV titles. In 2013, Sydel earned NSCAA High School All-American and Parade Magazine All-American recognition. Unfortunately, injuries forced her to retire, cutting short what promised to be a successful volleyball career.
