Superstar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, who will eventually be inducted into the Hall of Fame, has expressed without reservation his wish to buy a portion of an NBA team once he retires. We now know where he wants that team to be.

James told ESPN that his “ultimate” objective is to “bring my franchise” to Las Vegas. The remarks were made public on Wednesday, before to the Lakers’ NBA In-Season Tournament quarterfinal matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night.

James, 38, already owns a portion of the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool.

Former teammate and fellow Lakers icon Shaquille O’Neal recently stated that he too would like to establish an NBA club in Sin City, should the sport grow, thus James may have competition if he wants to buy a team in the city.

James, a four-time NBA MVP, four-time NBA champion, and 19-time All-Star, is shooting 54.6%/38.7%/69.7% this season and averaging 24.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. With a 13-9 record, the Lakers rank fourth in the Western Conference.
