Scott McTominay identifies Chelsea victory as a turning point for Manchester United

decisive player After Wednesday night’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford, Scott McTominay credited manager Erik ten Hag with the victory.

With goals either side of a Cole Palmer equalizer, the Scotland international—who started for the Reds for seven games in a row—sealed a return to winning ways for the club. He now has five goals for the season across all competitions, and his two-goal haul was his sixth.

After regaining their footing, United moved up to sixth position in the league, three points behind fourth-place Manchester City, who lost 1-0 to Aston Villa. After Saturday’s disappointing performance at St. James’ Park, United needed a response, and according to McTominay, they delivered in spades. He praised the team’s lightning-fast start.

“I thought we started really, really well in the game,” McTominay told Prime Video when speaking about the game. The fans were understandably pleased with our response and start following our dismal performance against Newcastle.

Our response to that game was so inadequate that the lads were quite furious about it. Winning here tonight was a good start, and we can use it as a foundation for future success.

McTominay acknowledged that boss Ten Hag kept training sessions light to collect energy, and he commended Ten Hag with his preparation in the build-up to Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s visit.

“The manager, to be honest with you, in the way we approached the game,” the midfielder replied when questioned about the most important mentаl aspect of the game. Since games come thick and fast, there have been many light training sessions to maintain energy, stay fresh, and, of course, proceed to the next one.

“For us, it is a night that we should be really happy with and one that we can build on.”
