Harry Maguire appeared to be heading out of Manchester United not too long ago. He is now a consistent starter for Erik ten Hag’s team and the November Premier League Player of the Month winner. Alejandro Garnacho received goal of the month for his incredible overhead kιck against Everton, and Ten Hag was awarded manager of the month.
Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United, was voted the Premier League Player of the Month for November, and Erik ten Hag was awarded the Manager of the Month.
The honor completes a stunning comeback for Maguire, who appeared on the verge of leaving United in the summer and was apparently out of favor with Ten Hag.
Following injuries to the backline, he was given a chance to join the squad, and he has returned with great success.
Maguire participated in every minute of November’s three Premier League victories for United without giving up a goal.
Maguire remarked on X, “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, the staff, and you fans.”
“I appreciate your love and support, it doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Only 15 defenders have won Premier League Player of the Month in Premier League history, with Maguire being the third United defender to do so following Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
Joel Matip of Liverpool was the last defender to take home the prize in February 2022.
Jeremy Doku (Manchester City), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle), Thomas Kaminski (Luton), Raheem Sterling (Chelsea), and Marcus Tavernier (Bournemouth) were among the opponents that Maguire defeated to win the trophy.
The decision to keep Maguire in the starting lineup at United despite his lack of playing time was questioned earlier this season by England manager Gareth Southgate.
However, given his recent club performances, Maguire’s spot in England’s starting XI for Euro 2024 now appears to be much more certain.
In November, United won all three of its games against Fulham, Luton Town, and Everton.
Ten Hag has won the Manager of the Month title three times during the run, to go along with his awards from September 2022 and February 2023.
He was the first choice on a four-man shortlist, beating out Rоb Edwards of Luton, Eddie Howe of Newcastle, and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth.
Alejandro Garnacho’s incredible overhead kιck against Everton earned him the Goal of the Month honor, making it a triple victory for United.
One of the best goals in Premier League history, according to many, was scored.
When United hosts Bournemouth on Saturday, they’ll be hoping to build on their victory over Chelsea over the week.
