In January, Chelsea will reportedly try to earn money for a new striker by entertaining bids for Conor Gallagher.
Despite spending over £1 billiоn on new players since Todd Boehly came over at Stamford Bridge last year, Chelsea have even regressed more. This means they’ll have a tough time qualifying for anything in Europe, much less the Champions League. According to the Guardian, the Blues have been heavily linked to strikers such as Ivan Toney of Brentford and Victor Osimhen of Napoli, as the latter two clubs’ major issue is failing to convert scoring opportunities.
Since Chelsea would need to release some players before they could afford to sign a No. 9, Gallagher is allegedly getting ready for the chop, as reported by the Daily Mail. A number of club members are concerned that they would be in viоlatiоn of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations if they were to recruit a top center striker. If the club were to sell Gallagher, it would be like Mason Mount leaving the club in the summer: a direct profit for the club.
The team under Mauricio Pochettino’s leadership is presently 12th in the Premier League, 14 points behind the playoff picture. After losing to Everton 2-0 on Sunday, the manager dropped hints that January would see the club back in the transfer market. Earlier reports also indicated that the Argentine had a predetermined list of seven players he wishes to trade during the Christmas transfer window.According to Opta Analyst, Chelsea have the fewest points of any Premier League club this season with 39 points from 39 games played in 2023. Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are also hosts of this unfortunate record.
What’s Chelsea’s next move?
Gallagher has five games to win Pochettino over before the January transfer market opens, starting with Saturday, December 16’s match against Sheffield United, who are in dаnger of relegation.
