One key player will be absent from the Los Angeles Lakers’ Wednesday night matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
LeBron James is set to miss out on playing for Los Angeles for just the second time this season.
Just before the game, word leaked out on X, the former name of Twitter.
LeBron James (L) will have to wait at least two more days to square off against Victor Wembanyama (R)
James is suffering from a calf contusion
NBA TV reports that James’s left calf contusion is the cause of his absence.
As a result, NBA fans will have to wait to watch James, 38, battle 19-year-old Spurs standout Victor Wembanyama, one of the most promising young players in recent memory.
Sports Illustrated reports that James should have recovered in time to play San Antonio on Friday.
James has averaging 25.3 points, 6.7 assists, and 7.5 rebounds in 23 games during his 21st NBA season.
The Lakers’ recent victory in the first-ever In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas was another addition to his already enormous trophy collection.
James scored 24 points in a 123-109 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
James was awarded MVP of the Tournament as well.
But in the championship game, teammate Anthony Davis stole the show with 41 points and 20 rebounds.
On Wednesday, Davis is scheduled to play the Spurs.
Wembanyama, the French pop sensation, is also expected to play at the AT&T Center.
The 7-foot-4 first-overall pick has averaged 18.8 points, 2.6 assists, and 10.6 rebounds in 21 games this season.
