Short of the Sheffield United goal, Mykhailo Mudryk “summed up his Chelsea career” with a long-range shot that went closer to the corner flag.
Mudryk, 22, found space about 30 yards out as the Blues looked to create a first-half breakthrough at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon (December 16).
His errant shot missed the mark and rebounded for a goal kιck that went over the 18-yard area. It seems to sum up his tenure at Stamford Bridge since joining for £88.5 million in January, according to Chelsea fans.
An individual lamented: “Mudryk attempts a shot that almost hits the corner flag.” Someone else said: “That shot is where MM is at right now he needs so much development.”
This, according to a third commenter, “sums up his Chelsea career so far.” A fourth comment was: “That sums up Mudryk, great bit of dribbling then puts it out near the corner flag with a shot.”
The 21st minute dribble and shot is Mudryk’s signature move. Another user said, “The most Mudryk thing ever,” while a fifth user panned the ability to sneak past people but shot from an idiotic stance that led to a corner flag. But he’s killing it today.
Despite controlling the ball for the most of the first half—all owing to Mudryk—the hosts managed just 0.10xG. In the second half, though, they were much more effective.
In the ten minutes following the restart, Cole Palmer scored the first goal and then set up Nicolas Jackson to score the second goal. Armando Broja missed a late golden opportunity, which would have given Palmer two assists.
