In the midst of speculation that Chelsea may sell academy product Conor Gallagher in January, Mauricio Pochettino has been very vocal in his appreciation of Gallagher.

On Saturday night, Mauricio Pochettino wasted little time in providing some clarifications. His first thought was on how to put a statement he made the day before—that managing Chelsea was like sitting in an electric chair—in context.

Despite his Shakespearean slip-up in acknowledging that his bosses would make the final decision, he was unequivocal in his appreciation for the 23-year-old.

He emphasized that the choice to be or not to be lies with the athlete and the club. As a captain and a regular starter, he sees action in almost every game. In my opinion, the team could really use a guy like him.

His Chelsea values make him significant. He is a dedicated player who grew up in the program and is devoted to the team.
