Abdul-Jabbar was surpassed by Antetokounmpo in the Bucks’ all-time rebounding record. He became just the fourth player, behind Michael Jordan (Bulls), Kevin Garnett (Timberwolves), and LeBron James (Cavaliers), to lead a franchise in points, rebounds, and assists.
Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks has once again established himself as one of the team’s top players.
In Sunday night’s game against the Houston Rockets, Antetokounmpo pulled down 17 rebounds. He surpassed the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to take the top spot on the Bucks’ all-time rebounding chart with his 14th board.
Currently leading the team in points, rebounds, and assists in franchise history, Giannis is only the fourth player in NBA history to reach that feat with 7165 rebounds in his regular season career. This distinction was previously held by only three players: Michael Jordan (Bulls), Kevin Garnett (Timberwolves), and LeBron James (Cavaliers).
Antetokounmpo had 17 rebounds and 26 points at the end of the game.
Even though Antetokounmpo has surpassed Abdul-Jabbar in the Bucks’ list of rebounders, he still falls well short of his overall totals. With 7165 rebounds, Giannis is now tied for 117th place all-time with Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis. Conversely, Abdul-Jabbar has more than twice as many rebounds (17,440), ranking fourth all-time.
Giannis was embroiled in a game ball dispute last week after outscoring the Indiana Pacers by 64 points. The Bucks easily saved the game ball for Antetokounmpo this time.
