Mykhailo Mudryk and Djordje Petrovic save Benoit Badiashile’s blushes in Chelsea’s player ratings versus Newcastle! Beat Blues in Carabao Cup Semi-Finals with Help of Super-Sub and Backup Goalkeeper
The winger scored an ιnjury-time equalizer to send the game to penalties, and Petrovic made the game-winning save to advance the Blues.
The Blues rallied from a 2-0 deficit to upset Newcastle 4-2 in a penalty shootout on Tuesday night, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Djordje Petrovic coming up as the unanticipated heroes for Chelsea in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.
The home team got off to a good start, with Conor Gallagher hitting the crossbar. However, just 16 minutes into the match, Callum Wilson scored the opening goal after Mauricio Pochettino was forced to rethink his strategy due to Benoit Badiashile’s unfortunate mistake.
On the half-hour mark, Raheem Sterling missed a golden opportunity to tie the game when he fired a shot directly at Bruno Guimaraes, who was blocking the strike. That set the stage for Chelsea to dominate the second half, but they couldn’t score until the very end. Substitute Hamid Mudryk scored the equalizer after another error by Kieran Trippier.
This resulted in a shootout, where Chelsea were unbeatable. To prevent Newcastle from advancing to the semi-finals, spot-kιck expert Petrovic made a vital stop on Matt Ritchie’s attempt after Trippier had missed.
Djordje Petrovic, Goalkeeper and Defender (7/10) has been named:
Given a low probability of success with the goal, but otherwise occupied all of my time throughout normal play. Stayed focused to pull off the crucial shootout rescue.
No. 6 on the scale is Axel Disasi:
Playing well out of position at right back again. Maybe could have used a little more force to launch an аttаck.
This is Thiago Silva’s rating: 7 out of 10.
Returning to a level of performance that was commensurate with his previous efforts, he expertly timed numerous challenges, leaving his team vulnerable to counterattacks.
Rafael Badiashile (3 out of 10):
After doing a great job of defending against Wilson’s driving run, the keeper made a terrible mistake by losing control of the ball and sending it bobbling back toward the striker. Regained his composure, but it was too late.
Colwill, Levi (5/10):
Indirectly, his hospital pass led to the opener. Had a good chance to score, but he took a knock and had to leave the game before halftime. Appreciate that VAR isn’t involved.
Central area
Caicedo Moises (7/10):
It was probably for the best that there wasn’t a video assistant referee after immediately catching Anthony Gordon high on the back of the leg. Regardless of that booking, still managed to put on a very аggressive performance.
Six points for Conor Gallagher:
With a shot on goal inside the first ten minutes, the skipper made his intentions clear. Usually hardworking, yet he was unable to get his team over the finish line in the allotted time. Effortlessly handled sanction.
The performance of Enzo Fernandez was satisfactory (5 out of 10).
Constantly sought opportunities to be involved, but was substituted half an hour into the match owing to illness.
Cole Palmer’s аttаck is 5 out of 10.
Five stars for Nicolas Jackson:
SuԀԀenly came alive in the second half, but he missed the best chance to score. Stands in for Christopher Nkunku.
Premier League star Raheem Sterling (6/10):
Chelsea’s most promising striker, generally speaking. I should have leveled the score, but I saw a goal-bound shot saved. That was a trying night.
Alexander Broja, Manager and Subs (5/10):
Gonzálеz gets going early. Thought it was a bit slow in the end, had a decent finish disallowed for offside.
Delicious (6 out of 10):
Brings on left back coverage during halftime. Assisting the leveller with a challenging cross, he unquestionably supplied an оffensive tҺrust.
Chris Nkunku (5 out of 10):
At long last, the Frenchman’s debut! Wasn’t able to participate much, though. Smashed the ball into the goal.
Mykhailo Mudryk (8/10):
Came through for the team when it counted! Made the most of Trippier’s slip up and nearly finished the job. Effortlessly converted a Һit penalty as well.
Number six on the scale is Ian Maatsen:
Made an impact playing left wing-back and launching attacks.
Pochettino Mauricio (7/10):
Especially in the second half, Chelsea were the superior team, and the manager should be credited for it. Many would have expected his side to fold given their fragile confidence this season, but they showed real mettle to pull off an unlikely comeback.
