Frankfurt manager Markus Krosche has stated his “very confident” that Donny van de Beek will leave Manchester United for a club in Germany.
Despite joining Old Trafford in the summer of 2020 for £40 million after a string of spectacular performances for Ajax, the Dutch international was not given a fair chance to shine under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tutelage. Under temporary boss Ralf Rangnick, things continued along the same path, but many were hopeful that things would change for Van de Beek once Erik ten Hag took over.
Although the midfielder had experience playing for Ajax under Ten Hag, his United fortunes took a nosedive upon his former boss’s arrival. Van de Beek has only played in eight league games since Ten Hag became manager at Old Trafford. Across all competitions this season, he has only played 21 minutes.Consequently, Van van Beek has decided to look for a fresh challenge abroad, and Frankfurt seems to be the most likely location for his latest chapter. In an interview with the Kicker, team manager Krosche gave an encouraging report on the United midfielder.
I have full faith that Donny will remain a part of our team for the upcoming six months. Overall, we must prioritize quality. Being a young team, we are in need of experience. We can count on Donny to lend us a hand there.
The German club has the option to buy Van de Beek out for £13 million at the conclusion of the season, however the deal will start as a loan. Given that his future at Old Trafford is looking bleak, the 26-year-old has every reason to stay at Frankfurt.
Earlier this month, when asked about his former Ajax star, Ten Hag admitted that Van de Beek’s career would be better off elsewhere. “I think Donny has to play,” the United manager told reporters. He had opportunities because he was on the team during games.
His recovery from physical injuries meant that he got off to a sluggish start to the season. I can see that he needs to play for his career and everything now that he’s back and performing so well in training—if you can’t give him perspective, that is.
United has let Van de Beek go on loan before; in January of last year, he joined Everton. Unfortunately, the midfielder’s stint on the blue half of Merseyside was dull, and he now finds himself in a tough spot, unwelcome by both Everton and United, his parent club.
