After his remarks from Saturday went viral, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham put undue pressure on big man Anthony Davis to win the Defensive Player of the Year title in the 2023–24 NBA season.

Arguably the greatest Lakers writer, Mike Trudell, leaked Ham’s remarks on Twitter on Davis’s candidacy for this year’s DPOY title.

“He is everything. Per Trudell, Ham stated, “He’s been elite.” “I don’t believe it gets enough credit or attention. Without him, our defense is worthless.”

Even though Ham’s remarks are obviously made out of love, respect, and adoration, Davis will now have even more pressure to produce, which could work to his advantage.

The best defender in the NBA is Anthony Davis.

For the past few seasons, Davis has been probably the finest defender in the NBA, but his consistency has been a problem.

Maybe Ham is putting more pressure on Davis early on in order to maintain consistency in the face of the club’s difficulties after Davis led the team to victory in the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament.

If Davis stays healthy, only Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez of the Milwaukee Bucks have a chance to defeat him for DPOY.
