The Getafe manager explains Mason Greenwood’s straight red card after he said it

Mason Greenwood’s comments to the referee that resulted in the forward’s red card have been revealed by Jose Bordalas, the manager of Getafe.

In their quest to remain in touch with the top six in La Liga, Getafe welcomed Rayo Vallecano to the Civitas Metropolitano on Tuesday.

But Sergio Camello scored twice to lead Rayo Vallecano to a 2-0 victory.

After receiving two yellow cards to Juanmi Latasa in the first half and a straight red card to Greenwood in the 50th minute, Getafe were reduced to nine players for the encounter.

Greenwood seems to have spoken to referee Jorge Figueroa, leading to his dismissal, at that moment.

Getafe manager Bordalas discussed the Englishman’s conversation with the official after the match.

“The player informed me that he said ‘don’t with me,’ only that,” he stated.

“He never insulted anybody; it was just a frustrated outburst.”

Bordalas elaborated, saying, “It was a comment, ‘don’t with me, why won’t you blоw (the whistle)?'”

In the summer, Greenwood’s future away from Manchester United was decided, and he went on a season-long loan to Getafe.

The 22-year-old is reportedly thriving in Spain, and rumors of a transfer to Barcelona, a powerhouse in La Liga, have been circulating for a few weeks.

The Sun reports that the Catalan club is Һell-bent on acquiring the services of the English striker.

Barcelona are incredibly keen on signing Greenwood, according to a source who spoke with the publication.

At this very moment, they are in first place in the race and the lineup. After observing Greenwood, scouts are to determine whether he is a good fit for Barcelona’s playing style.

“The general consensus is that he does, and he’d be an asset to the team.”
