Jadon Sancho will spend the rest of the season on loan from Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund, according to an agreement between the two clubs.
While both parties are eager to finalize a deal, the clubs are adamant that several crucial aspects remain unresolved.
Although the loan is not guaranteed to be finalized this weekend, Dortmund is still hoping to have Sancho at their warm weather training camp in Marbella next week.
According to German daily Bild, the agreement is apparently worth roughly £2.6 million to Dortmund, and as of Thursday, the only remaining issues were related to taxes.
In 2021, Sancho paid £73 million to join Manchester United. However, he hasn’t played for United since August after being benched by Erik ten Hag.
While his return on investment for United was a meager twelve goals in eighty-two games, his four seasons with Dortmund were productive, with fifty goals in one hundred thirty-seven appearances.
The fact that Erling Haaland praised his former Dortmund teammate as a “real baller” shows how well regarded he is.
Given that Sancho has not even practiced with the first team since September, returning to regular top-level football will be an intriguing challenge for him.
Some of his United teammates reportedly sought to get him back into Ten Hag’s system after hearing he was training “like a beast” in December.
Still, United’s boss is =set on waiting for Sancho, 23, to apologize before he welcomes him back into the fold.
Sancho basically called out the Dutchman for lying about why he benched him in September’s match against Arsenal.
The £275,000-per-week guy has been disregarded since their fallout, when Ten Hag questioned Sancho’s training performances.
