Talks to loan left back Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica have started at Manchester United

aUnited are negotiating with Benfica to send left defender Alvaro Fernandez on loan.

The Spaniard has struggled to establish a consistent starting position during his 2023–24 loan spell with LaLiga club Granada.

The 20-year-old has played in 13 league games, although he has only started five and has not scored a goal.

After Sunday’s match against Spurs, United will likely let Hannibal Mejbri join Sevilla.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will make an appearance at Old Trafford as the Red Devils face Tottenham, marking his first since his partial takeover.

Given the present state of United’s ιnjury situation, the Mejbri may be called upon to join the team on game day.

Ahead of his season-long loan to Burton Albion, Manchester United youth player Joe Hugill has renewed his contract with the club.

The attacker is already committed to United until 2026 with an additional year’s option, but he’ll now work with Martin Paterson at League One strugglers Burton to further his development.

Hugill has made four appearances for United this season, including this week’s FA Cup victory at Wigan, after joining from Sunderland in 2020.

United has called on him to cover for injuries in training, despite the fact that his loan with Burton was agreed upon earlier in the week. When Burton’s team faces Derby County on Monday, he will likely start right away.
