Gomez has performed ok for Manchester City, and Chelsea may find him to be a valuable addition. But before signing the Manchester City defender, the Blues would need to cash in on either Marc Cucurella or Ben Chilwell because they already have two left backs at their disposal.

Furthermore, it’s unclear if the reigning Premier League winners will be willing to let go of the Spaniard in the upcoming months.

Manchester City has been forced to use makeshift full-backs this season due to their acute shortage of depth at left back. They won’t want to further deplete the team, so before allowing Gomez to depart, they’ll probably try to recruit a decent left-back.

Despite having two left-backs available to them, Cucurella has failed to live up to the hype since moving to Stamford Bridge with large money. Chelsea ought to try to cash in on him and use the money made to acquire a player who can help them.

If Chelsea hopes to contend for major trophies in the upcoming seasons, they will need to strengthen their defense, which has appeared to be very weak. It is unclear if the Blues, who were in midtable the previous season, will be able to qualify for Europe this year.

They undoubtedly have a strong team at their disposal and an exceptional manager in place. Though they have made progress in recent weeks, it is unclear if they will be able to maintain this momentum and move up the standings.

Gomez wants to play in the Premier League on a regular basis, and if Manchester City is unable to provide him the opportunity, he might be persuaded to move to Chelsea if there is a better opportunity. It will be interesting to watch how things work out in the coming months.
