Dwyane Wade and the Heat’s star player have a special relationship.
One Heat player discussed his friendship with the legendary Dwyane Wade as the team celebrated his remarkable career. Although a lot of people have influenced Bam Adebayo’s NBA career, Wade’s influence is greater than most.
“Our relationship is very authentic; it’s true; it’s honest,” Adebayo stated. “The most important thing I’ve ever advised D-Wade to do is to never lie to me. He has fulfilled that promise.
I think that’s what’s so special about our relationship—I don’t have to see him every day. I occasionally get calls from him, and occasionally he texts me throughout the playoffs. He also calls me before the playoffs. It is evident that he wants to see the location he created prosper.”
It was Wade’s rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Adebayo played for them. He was traded back to the Heat amid the season. The 6-foot-4 star got the opportunity to play a complete season with the franchise before announcing his retirement from basketball the following season.
Adebayo claims that the Heat star gave him patience lessons. The standout center remembered that Wade approached him because he was unhappy with the amount of playing time he was receiving. Wade explained to him that before he could play with the more experienced players, he had to be patient and earn the slot.
Like Wade, the two-time All-Star is motivated to leave a lasting impression. Adebayo expressed his wish to be included in the team’s “championship alley” and locker room walls.
