“I give up man”: LeBron James Raises Concerns Over Missed Foul by NBA Referees, Highlights Player Safety

LeBron James and the LA Lakers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers with ease. James had again another fantastic performance, but it appears that he is growing weary of the calls that went against him.

James was driving toward the hoop in the middle of the third quarter when Scoot Henderson attempted to stop him. LeBron had several cuts on his left shoulder during the play as a result of losing the ball.

LeBron James slams NBA referees for missing foul on him

LeBron’s dissatisfaction with the way the game is officiated in relation to him has never been hidden. The referee denied seeing the foul when the LA Lakers player attempted to explain it to him.

Eventually, James called out the referees on his Instagram page and attacked them there. He posted a photo of his scraped arm as part of an Instagram story on his social media account. James wrote as a caption:

“It seemed like there wasn’t a foul,” the referee stated, glancing at me. Wow! James posted, “I give up man,” on his Instagram story.

The scratch alone serves as proof that someone touched his arm. The league’s officials typically call these kinds of fouls.

The league has not responded to any of the plays. James had previously used social media to criticize the officials for awarding a two-point basket instead of a three-point attempt, which would have tied the game.

This season, LeBron James hasn’t been pleased with the refs.

Previously, the LA Lakers hosted the Memphis Grizzlies in the first week of January 2024. LeBron James and Anthony Davis of the Lakers both had outstanding games, but they were defeated by the Grizzlies.

James was dissatisfied with the way the Lakers were being officiated during the painful loss against one of the poorest teams in the league. The four-time NBA champion was spotted becoming enraged with both the referees and the Grizzlies players.

Jaren Jackson Jr. challenged one of LeBron’s shots during a play. James didn’t like the way plays were being made to physically defend him. He yelled at the Grizzlies player, taking offense.

While he was waiting to make the free throw, he was also spotted becoming irate with the officials for not giving the ball to him right away. LeBron waited to shoot the free throws while the referee was speaking with Desmond Bane. He begged the referee to pass the “damn” ball to him.

James has previously blasted the officials for missing what appeared to be the game-winning three-point attempt during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The NBA, however, later declared the play to be a two-point shot.

LeBron James criticized the referees on X/Twitter shortly afterward for missing a Jaylen Brown shot. During a shot that tied the game against the Indiana Pacers, Brown took a blow to the back of his head. Following the evaluation, the play was declared clean.
