He has fought for and supported Cleveland, his hometown, throughout his career. In light of this, American Football star Johnny Manziel was quickly taken under LeBron James’ and his lifelong friend Maverick Carter’s tutelage many years ago.

Manziel struggled with depression and drug use despite his bipolar diagnosis, which he has recently disclosed.

On the Club Shay Shay podcast, Shannon Sharpe and Johnny Manziel talked about Skip Bayless’ prediction that the quarterback in Cleveland would be more important than LeBron James. Many were drawing comparisons between the two athletes, even if many dismissed this as more of Bayless being a James critic.

Like LeBron, Manziel was a highly regarded prospect from Cleveland who was later selected to play for the team, which put even more pressure on the budding talent. The LRMR marketing firm owned by James and Carter helped Manziel—who was selected by the Cleveland Browns—see an increase in popularity.
